Following on from previous successes, Hucknall Tourism & Regeneration Group are delighted to be involved once again in this magical event.

Taking place in the historic church of St. Mary Magdalene, on the Market Place in the centre of Hucknall, the festival is an open invitation for organisations, schools, societies and commercial enterprises to exhibit a tree, decorated in a style that promotes their activities and interests.

It provides an excellent opportunity for the whole town to participate and find out more about what’s happening in the local community and the great variety of organisations, businesses, societies and interest groups that Hucknall has to offer.  It’s also a chance to show support for the parish Church of Hucknall and visit this historic and much loved landmark.

We also hope that visitors from the wider community will visit the festival, having benefits for trade and promoting Hucknall and its historic heritage.

Opening on Wednesday 3rd December until Saturday 6th December

The Christmas Tree Festival will open on Wednesday 3rd December at 6pm to coincide with the celebrations of Carnival Night in Hucknall.

Opening times are as follows:

  • Wednesday 3rd December 6-8pm
  • Thursday 4th December 10am - 8pm
  • Friday 5th December 10am - 8pm
  • Saturday 6th December 10am - 12 noon

Tea, coffee and cakes will be on sale in the Church coffee shop

Last Year’s Festival

Last year, we had so many visitors on the first night, over 500, that we have decided now to operate a one way system to enable people to move around the church more freely.    Entry will be through the Church porch and visitors will be directed to follow a route around the church before arriving at the cafe area and finally leaving by the other door.

Here are some comments we have received from visitors, in previous years:

"Well worth a visit -Nice that this is a reflection of our local community."
"A fantastic display, lovely decorations, great service from the church helpers, thank you."
"Delightful event. Thank you. It felt very warm and welcoming. It felt good that Hucknall came together in unity."

Fund-raising for local good causes
The Christmas Tree Festival is also a means of raising funds for local charities and good causes, as each participant will sponsor their tree for a minimum of £5, with this money being distributed by the Rotary Club of Hucknall.  The Church will also benefit from the sale of refreshments during the festival.

The actual event itself will be free of charge to the general public and accessible to everyone, including wheelchair users.

New for 2014

Visitor’s Tree
This year an empty tree will be waiting to be decorated by visitors to the festival.  Bring your own handmade decoration or bauble and help create a beautiful tree decorated by the local community.

Best Tree Competition –judged by You!
